Content creator Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, has been remanded at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre over the alleged rape and death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro in Delta State.
A Delta State High Court granted the remand order on Friday, September 4, 2026, following the completion of key aspects of the police investigation into the controversial case.
The development was disclosed by Awele Ideal, counsel to Favour’s family, who said the autopsy and toxicology results had been released to the police investigation team and incorporated into the report prepared for prosecution.
Ogbonna is expected to remain in custody and be brought before the court as proceedings continue, with the matter now moving towards prosecution by the Delta State Ministry of Justice through the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ideal, who is handling the case for Favour’s family on a pro bono basis, said she would continue to provide legal and financial support to ensure the case was thoroughly pursued.
The remand was also confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, Ossai Ovie Success, who said the content creator had been taken to the correctional facility following the court’s decision.
How the case started
The case drew widespread attention after Favour allegedly accused Ogbonna of raping and assaulting her following her trip to Asaba.
Reports indicate that the young woman had travelled to the Delta State capital after allegedly being invited by Ogbonna for a content-creation training programme advertised on social media.
She was subsequently alleged to have been taken to a hotel, where the alleged sexual assault occurred.
After returning home, Favour reportedly informed her parents about what she claimed had happened and recorded a video recounting her alleged experience.
She later ingested a toxic substance and died, prompting her family to petition the police and demand an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
Following the petition, the Delta State Commissioner of Police directed the Effurun Area Command to investigate the allegations. Ogbonna was subsequently arrested as detectives began piecing together the circumstances surrounding the young woman’s death.
The autopsy and toxicology examinations became crucial parts of the investigation as authorities sought to establish what caused Favour’s death and whether there was any connection between her alleged ordeal and the fatal poisoning.
With the remand order now granted and the investigation report prepared for prosecution, attention has shifted to the Ministry of Justice and the next stage of the court process.
