A former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has paid visits to ex-Vice President Abubakar Atiku, former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, and renowned cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare.

“Malam Nasir @elrufai was in Lagos today to visit Ogbeni @raufaregbesola and Pastor Tunde Bakare,” El-Rufai’s media adviser, Muyiwa Adekeye, tweeted on X formerly twitter.

The former Kaduna State governor met Aregbesola and Baker in Lagos on Sunday with his visit to Atiku taking place in Abuja on the same day.

“Tonight’s Iftar (breaking of fast), I received in audience, former Governor of Kaduna State, @elrufai, former Governor of Adamawa, Jibrilla Bindow and Musa Halilu, Dujima Adamawa. Our robust discussions were the dessert of the meal,” Atiku posted on X.

The meetings set tongues wagging on social media as netizens generally opined that it was all about 2027 presidential election and forming alliance to stop President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, El-Rufai’s relationship with the party’s leadership and President Tinubu has soured.

The sourness is believed to have arose from Senate’s decision not to confirm his nomination as Minister by the President.

He has been scathing about the Tinubu’s administration’s policies and has accused the President of being behind what he suffered in the Red Chamber.
