39-year-old Iheanacho is facing prosecution for murder.
Prosecution allege that he killed his ex-girlfriend’s son in a fit of rage after noticing the boy had lost his trainer in Mountsfield Park, Hither Green, London, in November last year.
The accused, however, denied the allegation saying Alex tripped over in the park and hit his head on a concrete path.
He explained that he went with Alex back into the park to look for the trainer, where he said the tragic accident occurred.
‘It was dark. My phone light was very dim, and the trainer was black. 0I came back, picked him up, put him on my shoulder and walked back to the gate. I’m on the right hand side of the bench, I was walking along, scanning the path to see if I could find the trainer.

‘I tripped, maybe on the grass, and I landed half of the dirt and half on the path. Alex landed in front of me, landing on the tarmac.
‘I saw him fall. He landed on the side of his head and his legs went up,” Iheanacho was quoted as saying in the court.
The trial continues
