A 22-year-old guy has been arrested for posing as a police officer in Lagos.
The suspect according to the account given by the State Police Command via its official X handle on Tuesday, stole a police officer’s bag containing a camouflage uniform, warrant card, mobile phone, ATM card and other personal belongings, and converted them to personal use.
The report said the unnamed impostor wore a camouflage uniform and was parading himself as an officer but some Lagos residents saw through his deception and alerted the police.
“The suspect subsequently wore the stolen camouflage uniform in an attempt to impersonate a police officer.
“However, vigilant passersby became suspicious after noticing that his behaviour and mannerisms were inconsistent with those of a genuine officer.
“The residents questioned him and discovered that he was an impostor and handed him to the Police for further investigation,” the tweet read.
It said the suspect had been taken into custody and would have his days in court.
