A final year student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Okoli Ahize, has met his death at the hands of mob for allegedly stealing phone.
According to common report, the killing of Ahize, a 500-level student of the Department of Civil Engineering by his schoolmates on Monday was over accusation that he stole a phone.
The incident, which happened at Awolowo Hall of the institution’s residence and confirmed by the school authorities via a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju is now a subject of investigation.
This, Olarewaju made known in his remark; “The administration of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has condemned, in strong terms, the incident that led to the death of a Part 5 student of the institution.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the student died of a mob action on the allegation that he stole a phone.
“Saddened by this ugly development which he described as unfortunate, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adebayo Bamire, has set up a committee to unravel the circumstances that led to this incident.”
