A 65-year-old man that is HIV positive has been sentenced to death by stoning for raping a minor and infecting her with the deadly virus in Kano State.
The man, Ubale Saudi Dutsa, was convicted after pleading guilty to the charge.
Justice Farouk Ahmad of an Upper Sharia Court sitting at Nomansland at Sabon Gari area in Kano State gave the judgment.
In his judgment, Justice Ahmad held that he relied on Sharia law guided by Quran to sentence the convict accordingly.
The convict had pleaded guilty seven times before the judge passed his verdict.
The minor was said to have been medically examined at the state -owned Murtala Muhammad Hospital while it was discovered that she was infected with HIV /AIDS as a result of the forceful intercourse by the convict.
The convict was brought to the court on the charge of raping Shamsiyya from a small town of the state called Gezawa town.
