7 persons travelling for wedding die in auto crash

Seven persons have died in a ghastly auto crash on their way to Maiduguri, Borno State, to attend a wedding ceremony.

The victims were identified as Gambo Abbo (35), Umalkhairi (18), Rabiu Abubakar (28), Fatuma Hassan (28), Amal Abubakar (3), Adamu Bello (4) and Zara’u Alhaji (27).

Report said they were
from Lawanti village in Akko Local Government Area (LGA) of Gombe State and left there for Maiduguri for the event but lost their lives along the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway in a tragic motor accident on Saturday.

Among the deceased are the District Head of Jalingo, Bello Hassan Babangida’s sister and niece.

The melancholy event has provoked loads of tributes and condolences one of which is from Gombe State governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya through a statement his spokesman, Ismaila Uba Misilli issued.

Quoting the governor, Misilli wrote that he said that the victims’ untimely deaths deeply touched the hearts of all, adding that no words could adequately console families who had lost loved ones under such tragic circumstances.
