Rev. John Hayab, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 northern states, has called for continuation of the collaborative war against terrorism by the federal government and the United States.
The discussions surrounding US’ airstrikes on terrorists’ camps in Sokoto State have been intense, emotional and conflicting.
Hayab was in agreement with the military action, a sentiment he ventilated in an interview with The Sun, in which he sought for the continuation.
“We shouldn’t be afraid that the US might go overboard. After all, the terrorists have gone overboard.
“We ask that the intervention continue unabated until the terrorists are completely wiped out of our the communities. Besides, the Nigeria Government officials have confirmed that the attack was a collaboration to get rid of terrorists.
“But Nigerian citizens would be happy with any help that is towards bringing to an end to the persistent killings by bandits and terrorists.
“Our Association believes that Tinubu security emergency has started working with his public declaration of all groups carrying arms and killing innocent people in Nigeria as terrorists. And may this collaboration not be a one-off activity but should remain a continual activity till every terrorist is defeated and eliminated in Nigeria,” the publication quoted him as saying.
