The political machinery for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid is gathering momentum, with the All Progressives Congress (APC) naming Abdulazeez Abubakar Kaka as its North-West Director of Youth Mobilisation.
The appointment of Abdulazeez Abubakar Kaka has triggered excitement among APC youth leaders in the region, with the Forum of Northwest APC Youth Leaders describing the choice as a recognition of his political experience and grassroots connection with young people.
The appointment is part of the APC’s newly unveiled 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, which has President Tinubu as chairman and former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State was named the North-West Zonal Campaign Coordinator.
Kaka will work under the council’s Youth Mobilisation Directorate, headed by Hon. Ayodele Olawande, with Dr Dayo Israel as Deputy Director. Other zonal youth mobilisation directors are Obinna Iyiegbu for the South-East, Moyosore Ogunlewe for the South-West, Donghan Barbara Omusuku for the South-South, Ibrahim Abba Umar for the North-East and Abdulfatai Yaya Seriki for the North-Central.
Reacting to the appointment, the Forum of Northwest APC Youth Leaders, in a statement signed by Comrade Suleiman Mahmud T, said Kaka was well positioned for the assignment because of his experience and alleged strong links with youths across the region.
The group said it was confident that his experience in youth engagement would help strengthen the APC’s youth structure and boost support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“We hereby pledge our full support, cooperation and commitment to Hon. Abdulaziz Kaka in the discharge of this important responsibility,” the forum said.
It added that its members were ready to work with Kaka to mobilise young people across the seven North-West states for the success of the Tinubu campaign.
The North-West remains a crucial battleground for the APC, and the campaign council has created several positions specifically targeted at strengthening its mobilisation structure.
The council also appointed Senator Aliyu Wamakko as North-West Zonal Coordinator for Stakeholders’ Mobilisation, while other senior figures were assigned responsibilities across election planning, grassroots engagement and contact mobilisation.
The youth leaders congratulated Kaka on his appointment and wished him what they described as a successful and impactful tenure.
