Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has revealed the emotional reason he visited the grave of his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, shortly before heading to his polling unit to cast his vote in the August 15 governorship election.

The governor disclosed that the emotional visit was his way of seeking the blessings and prayers of the late politician, who he said remained a major influence in his life and political journey.

Adeleke made the revelation during an interview with Channels Television while reflecting on his victory in the election, in which he defeated his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, to secure a second term.

Speaking about the influence of his siblings on his life and political career, Adeleke said his late brother had a strong impact on him, adding that the two shared similar personalities and a deep love for life.

The governor said he and Isiaka were alike in many ways, particularly in their cheerful disposition.

He recalled that he missed his late brother deeply and admitted that he sometimes broke down in tears whenever he visited his grave.

Adeleke said he would go to the grave and tell his late brother that he missed him.

But the governor’s most emotional revelation came when he explained what he did on the eve of the election.

According to him, he visited Isiaka’s grave as he prepared to face another crucial political battle.

He said he told his late brother that he was once again on the march for an election and asked him to pray for him.

The governor’s visit to the grave before casting his ballot subsequently attracted attention, particularly after he emerged victorious in the keenly contested election.

For Adeleke, however, the visit was more than a symbolic gesture. It was a deeply personal moment with the brother whose influence, he said, continued to guide him.

Isiaka Adeleke was the first civilian governor of Osun State and later represented Osun West Senatorial District in the Senate.

Following his re-election, Adeleke thanked the people of Osun State for their support and pledged to continue working towards the development of the state.
