Two children of late Adimike Godwin and another suspect have been remanded over the murder of the deceased.
The suspects: Adimike Anthony, Adimike Stephany and Comfort Ajibade, were on Monday arraigned before the FCT High Court for allegedly killing Anthony and Stephany’s father at his Guzape residence in Abuja.
They were arraigned on four charges bordering on criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
While the court adjourned the matter until September 30, 2026, it also ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending further proceedings.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, in a statement on Monday said the deceased was found with multiple stab wounds after police responded to a distress call on May 15, 2026.
Adeh made it known that the tragic incident occurred on the 15th of May, 2026, saying a relative of the deceased told the police that he was met unresponsive after attempts to reach him were unsuccessful.
“Police detectives promptly responded to the scene and found him lying unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds.
He was immediately rushed to Karu General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel on duty,” she stated.
She added that the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident, leading to the arrest of five suspects.
“Following a discreet and comprehensive investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, five suspects were initially arrested in connection with the case, comprising Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany, Comfort Ajibade, the deceased’s driver and gateman.”
She explained that after investigations were concluded, only Anthony, Stephany and Ajibade were charged to court.
The police spokesperson said all three defendants were jointly charged with conspiracy to commit culpable homicide and culpable homicide over the death of Adimike Godwin.
She added, “In addition, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony was separately charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, while Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were jointly charged with entering into a same-sex civil union, contrary to the provisions of the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.”
