Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, are reportedly at daggers drawn over the composition of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The Nation reports that the duo’s relationship was being soured by a three-man interim management committee to manage the affairs of the NDDC constituted by Akpabio.

Omo-Agege’s grouse, the paper said, was that he was not consulted before the committee was constituted and beside there was no need for it since the commission’s board is about being constituted.

Their positions were said to be at variance and it came to a head when the former Akwa-Ibom governor sent a text message to Omo-Agege to register his displeasure.

The text reportedly infuriated Omo-Agege and in reply via the same means the Deputy Senate Leader wrote: “whether anybody likes it or not,” and now that it has been cleared, it must be allowed to work.”
