Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has weighed in on the controversy surrounding the alleged padding of the 2024 budget imputed to Senate leadership and the presidency.
Senator Abdul Ningi stirred the hornet’s nest by alleging that under cover N3.7tn was padded on the budget.
The declaration cost the Bauchi Central Senator his job temporarily, in the form of three-month suspension handed down on him by his colleagues.
However, Ningi is not destitute of support.
The governor of his state, Mohammed, while speaking during the State Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Bauchi, on Wednesday, said in the defense of the embattled Senator, “yesterday I was very sad the Senate suspended one of our best from Bauchi for saying the truth, for standing up to be the beacon of the truth.
“Equally I don’t know what we will do but we will discuss privately to see what we can do to support him because I support whatever he is doing and that is our best position especially if what he saying is the truth.”
