The Federal Government said it is considering a proposal from foreign countries including United States to help stem the tide of kidnapping and banditry.

There has been an epidemic of the said crimes with fresh mass kidnapping, over 300 pupils, and teachers abducted, and the kidnappers demanding a billion naira in ransom.

Speaking to newsmen after the Federal Executive Council’s meeting, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, said the government is in receipt of foreign assistance proposal to arrest the ugly situation.

Those lending a hand, according to Idris include United States, adding that the federal government is considering it.

“We’re aware that it is not just the U.S. that has offered to help.

“Other countries have also offered to support Nigeria.

“But what we can tell you is that the government is still reviewing these offers and the position of government will be made known,” the minister stated.
