Suspended Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has opted for plea bargain over various charges levelled at him.
As a result, his siblings, George and Okanta withdrew the two suits they filed against the Department of State Service (DSS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) over his detention.
It also culminated in Tuesday’s decision of an Abuja Court to strike out a suit filed by the embattled CBN governor challenging his detention.
It was said the conditions for the out-of-court settlement are that Emefiele would turn in his resignation letter as CBN governor and forfeit any illicit funds and questionable assets traced to him.
It was further gathered the proposed extrajudicial settlement followed intercession of some prominent Nigerians, and partly was informed by the need to appoint a substantive CBN governor by President Bola Tinubu and put a closure to the Emifiele’s case saga.
