The buses set back the state in total N68bn with the lawmakers accusing the immediate past governor of circumventing due process including not getting the House’s approval, and inflating the cost.
The lawmakers also claimed that 570 of the buses are currently lying fallow at the port yet to be cleared.
On the strength of the allegations, the House summoned Ambode and four commissioners in his administration, namely Kazeem Adeniji (former attorney General and commissioner for justice), Olusegun Banjo (Budget), Akinyemi Ashade (Finance) and Wale Oluwo (Energy and Mineral Resources).
However, the invitation was declined by all, prompting the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, at a session on Thursday to hint the next course of action for the House.
Obasa said, “When this house invite people and they refused to show up, it’s like setting a bad precedence for others coming behind.
“The clerk should write them including the ex-governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode and if they refused, we will do newspaper publications and after that, we will issue a warrant of arrest.”
