Juju music legend, Chief Ebenezer Obey, has said that new generation musicians can learn meaningful lyrics from his own generation, adding that he is doing his bit as a lecturer in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

The 73-year-old legend who is back on the social scenes and now sings secular music for his teeming fans stated this in an interview he granted The Nation.

He said: “They are playing good music to their generation. It is their generation that can react to them. The important thing is that the present generation understand what they are saying and singing and at the same time accept them. It is good. The only thing they need to learn from our generation I guess, is meaningful lyrics. They can in addition to what they are doing try to put in meaningful lyrics which will make their music to be there for years to come. That will be an advantage to their music.

“It is true, I teach music at Olabisi Onabanjo University. There, I lecture Ebenezer Obey music and philosophy of music. I am an emeritus professor there.”
