The Anambra State Government has dismissed a viral video purportedly showing Ozonna Soludo, son of Governor Chukwuma Soludo, campaigning for former presidential candidate Peter Obi, describing it as fake and malicious misinformation.

The video, which has been circulating on social media, showed a young man dancing to music promoting Obi, with the logo and photograph of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate superimposed on the footage.

However, the state government has insisted that Ozonna was wrongly linked to the video, warning those spreading it to stop or face possible legal action.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Media Assistant to the Anambra State First Lady, Dan Ezeigwe, said the footage did not originate from the governor’s son.

The statement accused unnamed individuals of deliberately circulating the video to create a false impression about Ozonna’s political activities.

It also identified an individual, Kelechi Simon, reportedly a medical radiographer based in Delta State, as someone linked to the origin and circulation of the video.

The government warned that it was monitoring the development and would not hesitate to pursue legal action against those found responsible for spreading the alleged falsehood.

It maintained that although Nigerians were free to support candidates of their choice and express political opinions, such freedom should not be abused through fabricated videos, malicious propaganda and misinformation.

The statement further cautioned social media users against sharing unverified content, insisting that the internet was not beyond the reach of the law.

It warned that anyone involved in deliberately spreading false information or defamatory material should be prepared to face the consequences.
