The election petition tribunal sitting in Owerri, has annulled the election of Hon Ikechukwu Amuka of All Progressive Congress, APC, over falsification of his West Africa Examination Certificate (WAEC).
Hon. Ikechukwu Amuka was the Chief Whip of the 7th Imo State House of Assembly and won re-election to the state assembly on the ticket of APC where he represented Ideato South Constituency until Thursday when the tribunal faulted his emergence on the grounds that he forged his WAEC result and ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to issue certificate of return to Mrs. Nkechinyere Ugwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Delivering the three hours ruling of the three-man panel, Justice P.I. Idong, affirmed that Amuka presented forged West Africa Examination Certificate (WAEC) result to INEC to contest the April 11, 2015, election.
The tribunal declared that the photograph on the original WAEC result sheet tendered by Hon. Ikechukwu Amuka was that of one Kevin I. Amuka who attended St. Peter Claver Seminary, Okpala.
Justice P.I. Idong therefore ordered the speaker of Imo State House of Assembly to swear-in Ugwu as the genuine winner to replace disgraced Hon Ikechukwu Amuka.
