A suspected armed robber dressed in military camouflage has been killed in Niger State.
The incident was made public by the Niger State Police Command in a bulletin its spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, released on Thursday.
The statement said the deceased robber fell to the superior firepower of the police in a shootout between officers and his gang, saying that, three other members of the gang escaped with gunshot wounds.
“On November 20, 2025, at about 11.45pm, information was received that suspected armed robbers were sighted along the Lambata-Maje-Suleja road, robbing motorists along the road.
“The police patrol team attached to Maje Division mobilised to the scene, and on approaching the Numbawa/Malam-karo point, the robbers were engaged in a shootout by the team, where one of the hoodlums, who dressed in military camouflage, was neutralised while others escaped with gunshot injuries.
“Items recovered include: one improvised wooden gun wrapped with black celotape, a phone, and a torchlight. The corpse was deposited at the Suleja Hospital morgue, and the road was cleared for free flow of traffic. However, monitoring continues,” Abiodun stated.
