The lawmakers were in the Villa for a dinner at the Presidential Banquet Hall on President Buhari’s invitation but were denied access to the venue by operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) manning the gate.

Led in a convoy by Senate President Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, who were allowed in, other principal officers turned back in annoyance after the security operatives insisted on profiling and screening them because they had no gate passes.

It was gathered that the lawmakers, who were prevented from gaining access to the Villa had arrived in a bus, and some of the security operatives were rude to them because they were without the necessary clearance.

It was further gathered that the dinner they came for did not hold, and has been rescheduled for Tuesday next week, while the president has instructed that gate passes be given to all principal officers of the National Assembly.
