Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has taken his 2027 presidential campaign to Nigerians’ phones, launching a digital platform that allows citizens to question him about his political record, policy proposals and plans for the country.
The African Democratic Congress presidential candidate unveiled the platform, tagged Ask AA, as part of efforts to establish direct communication with voters ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to a statement by Phrank Shaibu, Director of Strategic Communication for the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, the platform is scheduled to go live at 8:30 pm on Thursday.
Through the initiative, Nigerians will be able to ask Atiku questions on the economy, insecurity, job creation, technology and the rising cost of living.
The former Vice-President said he would personally respond to questions submitted through the portal, with members of his media team also assisting in providing answers.
Announcing the initiative on his social media accounts, Atiku said he believed leadership should involve direct communication between those seeking public office and the people they intend to govern.
“For too long, governance has felt distant—locked behind walls of bureaucracy,” he said, adding that Nigeria must break down the barriers separating leaders from citizens.
Atiku described Ask AA as a platform for transparency, accountability and dialogue, promising Nigerians the opportunity to scrutinise his economic record, examine his policy proposals and offer suggestions on national development.
“No filters, no intermediaries,” he declared.
He also disclosed plans to personally call selected participants who provide their contact details through the platform, saying he wants to hear directly about their experiences and the challenges affecting their daily lives.
The campaign council said the initiative would initially operate online, with plans to introduce a radio interface to accommodate communities without internet access.
Shaibu said the platform was designed to bring Atiku closer to the electorate through direct engagement and a problem-solving approach to public communication.
He added that the initiative reflected the former Vice-President’s commitment to using modern technology to make governance more efficient and effective.
Atiku, who served as Vice-President between 1999 and 2007, has made several attempts to become Nigeria’s president.
With the 2027 election approaching, the launch of Ask AA offers him another channel to reach voters, explain his proposals and respond to questions about his political record.
He urged Nigerians to participate by submitting questions and recommendations, insisting that transparent, technology-driven governance should begin with leaders listening to the people.
