The Committee on Public Accounts had invited Adamu to appear before it to defend allegation that the bank between 2014 and 2015 misappropriated N10 billion levelled by the office of the Auditor-General.

It had alleged that most agencies of government and many individuals were fond of shunning the parliament’s invitation, and threatened to order arrest of persons who failed to turn up in the future.

Ameh and Babaji, the Executive Director, Regional Banking and the bank’s Legal Adviser respectively turned up before the committee on Thursday instead of the MD, Adamu.

Adamu’s failure to appear before the committee irked its members and they visited their anger on his representatives, Ameh and Babaji.

Chairman of the Committee, Rep. Kingsley Chinda, ordered the Sergeant-At-Arm, to detain them pending when the MD will appear before members of the committee to respond to the queries.

Chinda said, “If he (MD) likes, let him come here by 10pm or tomorrow, we will keep you here till then so that you all can face the questions together. The Sergeant-At-Arm‎ should make you comfortable until your MD appears.”
