Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development Minister, Sadiya Umar Farouq’s husband, Abubakar Saddique, said Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State desired to kill him.
Saddique, the former Chief of Air Staff is the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the State while Mohammed is that of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Between them, there have been accusations and counter-accusations, and fights among their supporters.
The Minister’s spouse at a press conference held at the NUJ Secretariat, Bauchi on Thursday, said the PDP hierarchy in the state backed by the governor have been making attempts on his life.
He alleged this through APC Director, Media and Publicity of the Gubernatorial Campaign Council, Salisu Ahmed Barau at the briefing.
Justifying the claim, Barau cited instances the APC candidate allegedly escaped assassination plots.
His actual words, “Air Marshal Saddique Abubakar’s convoy was attacked last night (March 8, 2023) by armed thugs in Duguri, Sen. Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir’s town during which three persons in our team were shot and wounded.
“This is not the first time that our candidate came under gun attacks by hoodlums suspected to be sponsored by the PDP Government in Bauchi State.
“For instance, last month, two similar attempts were made on the life of the Air Marshal at Akuyam, the home village of PDP State Chairman when the APC visited the area on campaign.”
The Director of Media also alleged the governor of being fond of issuing threats at the former Chief of Air Staff at events and instigating youths in the state against him.
