The Lagos State Government said, the driver of its staff bus involved in an accident with train is in custody.
The staff bus’ number, 04A-48LA on Thursday morning collided with a train on railway track at Shogunle area of the state resulting in the deaths of six of the passengers on it, while 79 persons escaped with various degrees of injuries.
The mishap cause in general comment was put down to the bus driver.
“We warned him to allow the train to go, but he was adamant.
“Everybody was shouting, cautioning him, but he cared less,” one of the survivors, Kazeem Abiola told The Nation.
Report also said the heedless driver turned nose at the flagman who flagged him down for the onrushing train to pass.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Dr Frederic Oladeinde, said the unnamed driver is in custody with the view to subject him to interrogation when he regains his health.
