Rivers State governor, Neysom Wike, has laid bare of an alleged point the Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, made up his mind to dump the Peoples Democratic Party.
Obi, who is now a great favourite with the youths was the running mate of the serial and successless PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in 2019 poll.
The Anambra ex-governor made up his mind to ditch the PDP on account of what transpired between him and former Jigawa governor, Sule Lamido, according to Wike.
The Rivers governor said that Obi had taken trouble to pay Lamido his respect, and made known his intention to run for presidency on the platform of the PDP, but the former Foreign Affairs Minister told him rudely to forget his ambition.
Wike’s word, “Obi was running with us. I knew when Obi left. He was principled and he said he can’t stand it, people should say the truth. He went to see Sule Lamido in Jigawa, not in Dutse, but in a village that will take you more than four or five hours drive from Dutse, the capital.
“You know what he told Obi? He didn’t tell him that look, you came late and I have chosen somebody. He said it is the North that will produce the next president. That was how Obi left, saying why is he wasting time. Ask him, that’s how he left PDP.”
He gave this account during the inauguration of the 10-kilometre road constructed by his administration in Igwuruta, Ikwerre Local Government Area.
