A middle-aged man, Abubakar Auwal, has been beaten to death in Kano State after allegedly making romantic advances toward a married woman, Hafsat Umar.
The Kano State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement released yesterday by its Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa.
The statement said Auwal was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.
According to police, the woman’s husband, Abubakar Ali, 40, allegedly conspired with a 27-year-old man, Sulaiman Lawan, to lure Auwal to a secluded area, where he was severely beaten and left unconscious.
Operatives said they responded swiftly after receiving a distress call and found the victim in a coma. He was immediately taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Kiyawa added that the body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy, while a full investigation has been launched into the incident.
He further disclosed that three suspects—the woman’s husband, the woman herself, and the alleged accomplice—have been arrested in connection with the killing.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations and prosecuted according to the law.
