A Lagos Magistrates’ Court in Ejigbo has discharged Taiwo Musliudeen, a worker who was dragged to court after her employer, Cravings and More, accused her of accepting a token from a customer.
The Take It Back (TIB) Movement announced the development on Tuesday, hailing the ruling as a major victory after backing Musliudeen throughout the court battle.
“Today, justice prevailed as Taiwo Musliudeen, who was unjustly incarcerated by her employer, Cravings and More, and arraigned before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court over allegations of receiving a token from a customer at her place of work, has been discharged by the court,” the group said in a statement posted on X.
TIB condemned the case as an example of what it described as oppressive workplace practices, insisting that no employee should be thrown behind bars over such an allegation.
“This case is a reminder that no worker should lose their freedom over unfair and oppressive workplace practices. We are pleased that justice has been served, and we remain committed to standing with ordinary people against injustice, intimidation and abuse of power,” the statement added.
The movement vowed to continue fighting for victims of alleged injustice, declaring: “An injury to one is an injury to all. The struggle for justice continues.”
TIB also commended one of its members, Barrister Bolaji, for representing Musliudeen free of charge throughout the legal proceedings.
