The body of 20-year-old Miss Favour Agbro, the Delta State woman who allegedly took her own life after accusing a popular social media content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba of rape, was exhumed on Tuesday as investigators carried out an autopsy to unravel the circumstances surrounding her tragic death.

The emotional exercise took a heartbreaking turn when Favour’s twin sister insisted that food must be placed on her grave before the body was exhumed, claiming the deceased had appeared to her in a dream, saying she was hungry.

Human rights activist Israel Joe, who witnessed the exhumation, disclosed that the grieving sister arrived with bread and sardines and pleaded with the family to allow the food to be placed at the graveside before the autopsy.

According to him, the request was granted as relatives and sympathisers broke down in tears.

Joe said he and another activist travelled to Agbaro in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, where Favour was buried, to witness the exhumation alongside her father and other family members.

He revealed that the post-mortem examination was conducted by investigators and qualified pathologists in the presence of all parties, including the lawyer representing the prime suspect, Mr Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu of Asaba.

“The autopsy has just been conducted on the deceased Miss Favour Agbro by the investigating team and competent pathologists in the presence of all parties, including the lawyer of Odogwu Asaba,” Joe wrote.

He added: “Her twin sister had brought sardine and bread for late Favour, arguing that she appeared to her, saying that she was hungry.

“She wanted to put the food in the grave as she would be laid to rest immediately after the autopsy analysis by the pathologist in the presence of all parties. It was graciously granted amid wailings, agony, sorrow and tears.”

Joe thanked members of the public for supporting the bereaved family and vowed to pursue justice until the investigation is concluded.

The autopsy findings are expected to play a key role in the ongoing probe into Favour’s death.

Favour allegedly died by suicide after accusing Ogbonna of raping her and taking her virginity.
