Gunmen kill Zamfara lawyer escaping from abduction

Gunmen have killed a lawyer, Benedict Azza, in Gusau town, the headquarters of Zamfara State. 

Azza, a Gusau-based lawyer was shot dead by the gunmen, two in number, on a motorcycle at around 8.00pm on Thursday. 

Going by the account of his colleague, the state chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Junaidu Abubakar, the deceased lawyer was about to get into his residence in his car when the gunmen ambushed him, ostensibly to abduct him, but he resisted and drove to the roadside where his killers caught up with him. 

“According to the information, B.T. Azza was shot dead by 2 gunmen suspected to be kidnappers who came on a motorcycle. 

“Information has it that the gunmen wanted to kidnap him at his house situated at Saminaka Area, Behind Federal Road Safety Corps Headquarters, By-pass, Gusau, but he was able to escape, drove his vehicle and ran to the road side. 

“The gunmen pursued him and shot him dead,” Abubakar narrated the tragic incident.
