Ojoma Emie, a health worker, has been beheaded in Ikobi community of Apa Local Government Area of Benue State.
Emie was said to be commuting from Ikobi to Ugbokpo, the headquarters of Apa LGA on Monday evening when armed men ambushed him and subjected him to the gruesome treatment.
Report in circulation has it that upon beheading their victim, his killers went away with the head and left the lifeless body behind on the ground.
The melancholy event has sparked public concern about the level of insecurity on that Ikobi-Ugbokpo road concerning the regularity of criminal activities on the corridor.
“We are deeply worried that this particular route has become a recurring ambush point for suspected herdsmen. Our people can no longer travel freely on roads within their own communities,” a disturbed resident told this medium.
