A former Senate President, Senator David Mark said the people of Benue may embrace self-help if government fails to arrest the lingering attacks on the residents.
Mark who hails from the state stated this in a statement he released in consequence of last Friday’s killings of over 100 residents by marauding herders.
“This is the unfortunate reality the Benue people are confronted with. The government must rise to its responsibility or risk leaving the people with no option but to defend themselves,” the ex-senate president declared in the statement his media aide, Paul Mumeh, released.
“This is a trying time for our people. We must stand together, mobilise, and speak with one voice against the invaders. We must not succumb to fear,” the former military chief also urged.
