Nigerian comedian and actor Julius Agwu has opened up about one of the most painful and private consequences of the brain surgery he underwent in the United States in 2015.
Agwu revealed that he lost sexual function following the surgery, saying his penis stopped working after the procedure.
The veteran entertainer made the shocking disclosure during an episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show, where he reflected on the devastating impact of his health battle on his body, career and personal life.
Asked whether the brain condition or surgery had affected his sexual function, Agwu replied bluntly: “After I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work.”
The conversation then turned to the possible connection between the operation and the problem, with other participants discussing nerves around the brain and how damage to a nerve could potentially affect other parts of the body.
Agwu’s health crisis dates back to 2015, when doctors discovered three tumours in his brain. One of the tumours was reportedly as large as a golf ball, forcing him to undergo a major operation in the US.
The comedian has spoken several times over the years about how the illness changed his life, but his latest revelation exposed another deeply personal consequence he had not previously discussed so openly.
Beyond his health struggles, Agwu also became emotional while recalling his career and what he described as abandonment by people he once considered friends.
“My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.
At another point, the visibly emotional comedian reflected on his contribution to Nigerian entertainment, particularly his role in developing the music-comedy style that became a major part of his performances.
“Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said.
Agwu’s career has spanned comedy, music and Nollywood, making him one of the recognised figures in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
His latest revelation has, however, drawn renewed attention to the long-term effects of the health crisis that nearly brought his career to a halt.
