President Muhammadu Buhari has sought the approval of the Senate to pay N10.069billion in settlement of promissory note to the Kogi State Government.

President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan read Buhari’s letter of request on the floor of the Senate.

The development, which came ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Kogi State will fuel speculation particularly at the instigation of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that Buhari sought the approval in order to avail the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gov. Yahaya Bello with fund to prosecute his re-election.
