Report that Ali Ndume said former Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Tukur Buratai’s convoy was attacked by Boko Haram insurgents last Friday has attracted the former Senate Leader’s response.
Ndume while speaking on Sunday on Channels TV programme, Politics Today, had expressed concern about the spate of insurgency across the country and instanced the fresh attack on Buratai last Friday.
Report soon followed that the former COAS was far from the attack scene in Borno when it took place, and was in Abuja at that particular time.
The refutal has elicited response from the federal lawmaker.
The latter in his reaction said the media misrepresented what he said.
He remarked that he was referring to Buratai town and not the ex-COAS.
“It was Buratai town in Borno state that was attacked, not the person of the erstwhile Chief of Army Staff.
“I am surprised that the town of Buratai could be misconstrued as the person of General Buratai, who incidentally hails from the town,” he clarified.
