The outage of internet in Somali caused by a ship that damaged the undersea fibre optic wires since last month is being seen in different lights by Somalis.

While some are sad claiming $10m is being lost everyday due to the internet outage as workers are losing jobs, education disrupted, and people are not able to relate with friends and relatives on
social media, others are said to be celebrating the outage.
Local media reported that the absence of sites such as Facebook and YouTube has been a cause for celebration for some in the conservative Muslim nation.
The ship that damaged the undersea fibre optic wires that connected Somalia to the rest of the world while delivering goods at the Mogadishu port had reportedly been seized by the authorities.
