The report of the suspension of ex-governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, for alleged political infidelity by the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, is in dispute.

Kalu, representing Abia North in the Red Chamber was reportedly suspended by the leadership of the ruling APC at his Igbere Ward on anti-party activity grounds.

A letter said to have originated from the party, with Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee, Paul Nwabuisi, state Secretary, Chief Chidi Avajah and the state Chairman, Dr Kingsley Ononogbu signatories to it, and addressed to Kalu, informing him of his alleged suspension, read in part, “You are hereby suspended from the All Progressives Congress.”

However, the same leadership has immediately disclaimed the report through its spokesman, Okey Ezeala, who while retracting it, attributed the suspension claim to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The latter, according to Ezeala, in a statement he released, are behind the report, describing it as malicious and unfounded.

He went on to pay tribute to Kalu’s commitment to the APC.
