Airports across the country remain close for the next two weeks, the federal government has said.
The airports were expected to reopen for commercial flights on Thursday based on the subsisting government’s order.
However, a statement released by the Director of Public Affairs in the Aviation ministry, James Odaudu, on behalf of the minister, Hadi Sirika, conveyed the extention.
It reads: “As a result of the extension on lockdown by Mr. President, it is no longer possible for us to open our airspace and airports for normal operations by the 23rd April, 2020.”
The Federal Government had on March 21 announced the closure of all the country’s airports to all international flights as part of the intensive measures being taken to prevent the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
