Governor Dapo Abiodun on Friday announced the extension of COVID-19 lockdown in Ogun State by a week.
The extension is the third since President Muhammadu Buhari first imposed curfew on the state alongside Lagos and Abuja.
Gov. Abiodun said the latest extension became necessary due to rampant community transmission coupled with low compliance with lockdown measures among residents.
The governor stated this at the Governor’s Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta while addressing newsmen.
He said: “The current pattern of lockdown, with relaxation windows from 7am to 5pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday continue.
“We will continue to monitor the level of compliance with the lockdown measures and incidence of community transmission and hopefully, there will be positive developments that will enable us to further ease the lockdown at the end of this new lockdown period.”
