May & Baker Pharmaceutical Company said it has produced a million chloroquine tablets to be used for clinical trials in the treatment of coronavirus treatment in Nigeria.

A manhunt across the world for COVID-19 cure has yet to produce result with opinions divided over the efficacy of chloroquine in the treatment after President Donald Trump of the United States endorsed the drug for the treatment.

The drug is under ban in Nigeria but the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, went on to approve it for clinical trial in treatment of the pandemic patient with the DG, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, asking May & Baker whose flagship product in the past was chloroquine, to make a batch of the drug for emergency stock.

Punch reported that May & Baker have granted NAFDAC’s request in million quoting the MD of the company,   Nnamdi Okafor.
