The 32-year-old suspect was arrested in Lagos where the incident happened on June 5, 2017.
On that day, Sulaimon enlisted the support of two of his friend, one Kazeem and Sodiq, both who are on the run, to throw Ahmed into the Lagoon on Carter Bridge, drowning their victim in the process.

While his accomplices escaped arrest, Sulaimon was apprehended by eyewitnesses and handed over to the police.

Speaking on what motivated their action, the suspect said Ahmed killed his(Sulaimon) baby, beat his wife in Ilorin where they both lived and relocated to Lagos.

He explained that on the fateful day he ran into the deceased on Carter bridge and called his friends on phone to join him in fighting the deceased.

According to him, “The fight started between my group and Ahmed’s own way back in Ilorin . His group attacked my house, beat my wife and killed my two -month old baby who was with her. Subsequently, they all fled to different parts of the country. Then in January I relocated to Lagos.

“On June 5, i was passing along Carter bridge at about 10:00am when i came across Ahmed. I didn’t want to kill him, I just wanted to hold him responsible for the death of my baby. If my plan was to kill him I would not attack him in a public place.”
