Father of Chime Amaechi, the young man, who died in the same car with Davido‘s friend, DJ Olu, has spoken of his disgust at the suggestion that the deceased died of drug overdose.

Following reports that substance suspected to be drug was discovered in the BMW car in which DJ Olu and Chime were found dead in, on Saturday, the view that the duo died of drug overdose is being widely held.

Earlier reports that another of Davido’s friend, Tagbo Umeike, who died four days before the demise of Chime and DJ Olu died after drinking ten shots of tequila also gave credence to the view held about the duo’s death.

But Chime’s father has disputed the claim in an interview he granted The Net.

The senior Ameachi said, “My late son was not a drug user. Like me he didn’t even drink and when he did, it was always in very small quantities. He was a level-head, nice human being.Even when he left school and started business, he would always let me know his next line of action, so I am surprised that these lies are being spread about him.”

Meanwhile Davido has cancelled his participation at this year’s ongoing Felabration, an annual musical festival to celebrate late Afrobeat king and founder, Fela Anukulapo Kuti.

His manager, Asa Asika, made the announcement yesterday, in an Instagram post, saying, “Out of respect for all the people we have lost of recent, we will not be at the Shrine tonight. I am sure everyone understands.”
