The mysterious death of Mr Gihan Mbelu, the Chairman, Community Development Association of Victoria Garden City, Lagos, is under probe.

Mbelu who was at the forefront of the war waged against criminality by the CDA in the posh community was found dead in his car on Friday at 10.10 am.

The incident happened in the area.

According to report in general circulation, the 42-year-old was alone in his car, a Mercedes C300 4Matic that was parked beside the road with the engine running.

The car was said to be in that state for hours, and as a result, curiosity drove some persons to the location sighting Mbelu motionless.

The rescue mission which followed that involved forcing the car door opened and rushing him to a nearby hospital eventually produced no good fruit as he was confirmed dead at the hospital.

Reacting to the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a post on his X page on Saturday, said that an investigation into the incident had begun.

Hundeyin wrote, “Investigation has commenced into this.”

The deceased recently at a press conference held by the VGC CDA told of how the association’s effort to root out criminality in the community has led to the arrests of over 30 Internet fraudsters and a kidnappers who were residents of the area.
