Dr. John Oluwademilade Adewumi, Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of GB Holdings Nigeria Limited, has joined business executives and global economic leaders at the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Bangkok, Thailand.

The meetings, which run until October 18, have brought together finance ministers, central bank governors, private-sector leaders, development experts and civil society representatives from across the world to discuss pressing economic and development challenges.

More than 15,000 participants from 191 countries are expected to take part in the gathering, which is being hosted at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Thailand is hosting the meetings for the first time since 1991.

The participation of Dr. John Oluwademilade Adewumi places him among business leaders engaging in discussions on the role of private investment in job creation, economic resilience, artificial intelligence and sustainable development.

The agenda also features deliberations on mobilising private capital to drive employment, promoting inclusive growth through artificial intelligence, expanding green finance and strengthening financial stability amid growing global economic uncertainties.

The IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings provide a platform for policymakers and business leaders to assess the global economic outlook, examine financial risks and explore strategies for sustainable development.

Key sessions include the release of the IMF’s World Economic Outlook and Global Financial Stability Report, alongside meetings of the International Monetary and Financial Committee and the World Bank-IMF Development Committee.

Other featured discussions focus on the use of artificial intelligence to create jobs and strategies for attracting private-sector investment to support economic growth.

World Bank Group President Ajay Banga and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva are among the key figures leading the discussions.

Thai officials, including Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas, and Bank of Thailand Governor Vitai Ratanakorn, are also expected to highlight the host country’s priorities on economic resilience, inclusive growth and green finance.

The host country is also using the meetings to promote its proposed “Bangkok Blueprint” initiative against financial fraud.

Adewumi’s presence at the gathering comes amid growing attention to the role of African businesses and private capital in addressing investment gaps, creating jobs and supporting economic development across the continent.
