A mild drama ensued on Wednesday at the floor of the senate after Senator Shehu Sani made a joke of ex-Akwa-Ibom Governor, Sen. Godswill Akpabio’s accident.
Sen. Akpabio was involved in a road accident in Abuja late in August and was flown to London for medical care.
But in apparent reference to the former governor’s failure to avail himself of the medical facilities he built in Uyo, the Akwa-Ibom State capital while he was governor, and was then boasting of, Senator Sani told him that he went to sympathise with him in Uyo after hearing about his accident but he was surprise he was flown to London.
Senate Minority Whip Philip Aduda (FCT), however came to Akpabio’s defence. He said the former governor was on his way to London when the accident happened, and not that he abandoned the hospitals he built, which threw other senators into a fit of laughter.
