Afrojuju originator, Sir Shina Peter, said he defied his parents and had to run away from home at school age to follow his dream of being a musician.

The singer in an interview with Punch, spoke of his daredevil act saying on account of his parents’ objection to his pursuance of music as a career, he dropped out of school and fled from home to put up with a prostitute who later accused him of theft.
“On a particular day, I told my parents I was not interested in school anymore and that created a lot of tension at home.
“When I left home, I went to Temiogbe Motel in Oshodi, and I started living with a prostitute. However, there was a day the woman accused me of stealing her money. Meanwhile, she forgot that she kept it under her pillow,” the 59-year-old told the paper.
