The displeasure of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, at the Easter celebration advert of Peak Milk, has drawn the reaction of the milk marker, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria Plc.
FrieslandCampina had on Friday, issued an advert with a dented Peak Milk container with inscriptions “Bruised and Pierced for Us” and “all for our good.”
It turned to offend the sensibilities of CAN leadership, with its General Secretary, Barrister Joseph Daramola, issuing a statement to that effect in which they demanded “unreserved apology” and the controversial advert withdrawal.
The Christians’ body also threatened to mobilise faithful to boycott the product.
Reacting via a statement by its Executive Director(Corporate Affairs), Ore Famurewa, FrieslandCampina sought for forgiveness, announced its removal of the advert online and pledged its commitment to good service delivery.
The remark read in part: “We hereby restate our commitment to our unwavering mission of nurturing Nigeria while maintaining the respect of all religious laws, tenets and guidelines.
“Once again, please accept our deepest apology and pledge to prevent a reoccurrence of such in the future. Do accept the assurances of my esteemed regards.”
