Mr. Victor Igbinovia, driver of Deputy Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Mr. Victor Edoror, was last heard from in February 2013, when he spoke with his wife on phone that he was on his way home, asking her to prepare rice for him.

News later broke that Hon. Edoror had been kidnapped at Irua with Igbinovia. Two weeks after their abduction, the lawmaker was released by their captors and reunited with his family.

But the case of the Igbinovia’s family is different as the whereabouts of the driver is unknown four years after he was abducted together with his boss.

After the Deputy Speaker’s release he had told them the kidnappers held on to his driver to negotiate for more ransom, and gave him phone through which they(kidnappers) would reach him(Edoror).

But after waiting in vain for four years to reunite with Igbinovia, his family are suspecting foul play, and have appealed to security agencies to investigate his disappearance.

They made the appeal when they held a protest march at the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Benin during the week.

“Edoror told us that the hoodlums only gave him a mobile phone when he was released and told him that they will call him. Edoror told us to be patient, saying the kidnappers were holding the driver hostage because they may want to demand another ransom.

“Days after, we decided to visit Edoror at his official residence to inquire if there is any news from the kidnappers. But we were surprised when he claimed that he has dropped the said phone at the police station and that we should go to the police,” the elder sister of the missing driver, Mrs. Adesuwa Igunbor, told newsmen.
