It has come to light the reason kidnappers who abducted nine persons among whom are six pupils of the Apostolic Faith Group of Schools, a teacher and the school bus driver, Taye Rasaki, killed the latter.

This is as controversy rose over report of N15m ransom said to have been paid to secure the release of the abductees.

While the police said, no money was paid, with its spokesman in the state, Sunday Abutu saying, “just a rumour,” a parent of one of the victims, in an interview with newsmen confirmed the ransom payment.

The same source also said the kidnappers killed the school bus driver because he couldn’t provide them with his wife’s phone number and that of the school’s proprietor on inquiry.

“The children told us that they (kidnappers) asked for the phone number of relatives to call from each of them in the forest.

“The driver told them he didn’t know that of his wife and school proprietor off-hand. This made them angry and they hit him with their gun.

“For five days, he was writhing in pains from the injury he sustained. On Saturday morning, he was shot dead and painfully, his body was burnt to ashes.

“It was a bitter and terrifying experience for the little children, especially looking at how the driver was killed,” the source recounted.
