The Ekiti monarch, Alara of Ara-Ekiti, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, who survived the vicious attack launched against him and two deceased colleagues, the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin, and the Onimojo of Imojo, Oba Olatunde Olusola, on Irele road while returning from a security meeting has recounted how he escaped.

The three monarchs were together when the marauding gunmen ambushed them killing Oba Olusola and Oba Ogunsakin in the attack while Oba Fatoba escaped death.

Alara’s escape, in turn, sparked rumour that he used traditional disappearing charm, a claim he disputed in an interview with The Nation.

However, he made allusion that his protector was traditional bullet-proof saying, “I would admit that the bullets did not penetrate through my body but I did not disappear, as being speculated.”
